VERSA NIGHTS 2
CLIENT: TBWA CHIAT DAY TORONTO
PROJECT: BOUNCE YOUR VERSA
There are easier ways of getting around town, but few are more fun than bouncing in a Nissan Versa! If you own a Nissan Versa you can give it a shot on your own, if not try it on the interweb with our latest interactive piece we just finished for TBWA Toronto.
COBRA, EAGLE, PHOENIX, WOLF.

Introducing our beastly render farm. Animals. Get it? So what if the Phoenix is a mythical creature. It’s still as majestic and seemingly dangerous as the others. It may be small now with ony 4×4 core dedicated machines, but it’s uber satisfying to hit render and watch the buckets do their beastly dance. So since it’s a PC render farm we thought it should have a theme befitting its character; power with an element of the unexpected… and danger! Some would rather have had no PCs in the office at all. Some would say that they detract from the elegant aesthetic of the rows of Apple G5’s, but not us. Nope. Plus we’d never get our 3D MAX scenes rendered… We could have called it SPAM, WORM, TROJAN and PHISH, but that’s just crazy.
HOW MANY CREW TO MAKE MONEY FLY?

How many crew does it take to make money fly? Apparently, ten. Four to be doing something and six to ensure their hips are held firmly in place.
We shot mermaids, breakers, skaters and gangsters that day and they all took considerably less work to pull off than this plate shot of money floating into the air. All this stuff was shot on the Phantom HD for an upcoming video interactive piece for Nissan Versa. Funny thing, we never used the “money shot”… but this snap does bear some resemblance to the work of the old masters and with that I feel triumphant to leave you with this quote - “Without atmosphere a painting is nothing.” Rembrandt Harmenszoon (yeah, Rembrandt has a last name and you never hear anyone say “I love Harmenzoon’s The Night Watch.”)
SENECA - CHANGE
CLIENT: SENECA / SOAPBOX
PROJECT: CHANGE
So there are like, 2 discussion topics in Toronto. One: the weather. Two: jobs. Seriously, you can’t leave the house without answering “So what do you do?” like, 18 times. When we say “Motion Graphics designers!” we typically get blank stares. This cinema spot for Seneca gets interested enthusiasm instead.
BMW MINI - WINTER BOOK
CLIENT: TAXI
PROJECT: WINTER BOOK
Since we’re such burly Canadian lumberjacks, we can provide great insight into how to survive winter. Go the hell outta Canada! / Aller! L’hiver est horrible ici! (We’re bilingual up here eh.) Ok, maybe we aren’t so burly. Instead, check this site we did with Taxi using iconography and a cool digi-book feature to show how Mini can help you cope.
2007 DIGITAL MARKETING AWARDS - 2 SILVERS
The stoke was as high as Tommy Chong, (the cool one), circa 1986 when the news broke over here on Dufferin St. So, in keeping with our grand pursuit of unparalleled excellence, we are proud to announce the following:
CLIENT: BMW MINI
AGENCY: TAXI
Our work for this site included producing and directing stereoscopic 3D video - the first time this had ever been done for a major website. So novel was the spectacle, that it required spectacles of its own - aha! 3D glasses were given out at Mini dealers or through the mail to give site visitors the complete experience.
CLIENT: NIVEA CREAM FOR MEN
AGENCY: TBWA TORONTO
MELD’s work on this rich media banner included repurposing broadcast production techniques for the web including green screen shoot, compositing, 3D motion graphics and some ultra cool transitions to take the ad’s star, “Guy in Towel” out of his comfort zone for conceptual and comedic purposes. In conclusion, thanks to all of our great clients. And to our parents. Oh, and to our wives.
NISSAN - VERSA NIGHTS
CLIENT: TBWA CHIAT DAY TORONTO
PROJECT: VERSA NIGHTS
TBWA Toronto and Nissan were stumped - Driving and clubbing are separate activities. How do we do both at once? Good question. We started with some motion tracking, green-screen, 3d animation and video game development. Now you can drive and rock hizzouse at the same time. Case closed yo.
